How it works

What will you gain from working with a physician/bariatric consultant for medical weight loss?

Our physicians use evidence-based medications and treatments to support safe and effective weight loss. They will assess factors contributing to weight gain and identify any weight-related health issues to help determine the best treatment plan for you.

Prescribed weight loss medications, when combined with a balanced diet and regular physical activity, can support sustainable weight loss and help prevent weight regain.

Weight loss medications may be appropriate for individuals who have:

  • A BMI of 30 kg/m² or higher, or

  • A BMI of 27 kg/m² or higher, along with an obesity-related condition such as high blood pressure or diabetes.

What to expect in your first appointment

The initial consultation involves a comprehensive assessment to identify both medical and non-medical factors contributing to your weight gain. During this time, we also gain an understanding of your health goals and overall health status. This allows us to ensure that the right combination of medication, nutrition, physical activity, and counselling to support your weight loss journey effectively.

  • Prior to your appointment you will be sent a registration form to your email. Please complete this in as much detail as possible prior to your appointment to help us get the most out of the consultation for you.

  • If you would like to cancel an appointment, please do so by calling (03) 9416 4418

    Should you need to change or cancel an in-person or telehealth appointment, please provide a minimum of 48 hours notice. Missed appointments and late cancellations disadvantage clinicians and other patients. 

    Please be aware:

    • For late cancellations within 48hrs (2 business days) of your appointment date, a 50% cancellation fee will be applied

    • For late cancellations within 24hrs (1 business day) of your appointment date, 100% cancellation fee will be applied

    • Failure to attend your appointment will incur a 100% cancellation fee

    The practice reserves the right to cancel unconfirmed appointments inside of 24hrs of the appointment date, in order to allocate this to a patient on our waiting list.
